SideQuest

Turn real life into quests

The hardest part of doing something interesting is deciding what. So instead of another endless list of generic ideas, SideQuest generates quests built from real places near you using Apple Maps - eat at a real burger joint, walk a real beach - or rolls one from a hand-written library of 350+ when you just want a nudge. Complete quests on the honor system, snap a photo and jot a note, and each one becomes a Lore Card, earning XP and keeping a daily streak. It works offline, needs no account, and your whole history lives on your phone.

Everything it does, nothing it doesn't.

Small on purpose. Each feature earned its place by solving something real.

01

Real-place quests (Pro)

Type a city or tap Use My Location and SideQuest builds quests around actual nearby venues via Apple Maps. Open in Maps jumps straight to the live listing with hours and reviews.

02

350+ curated quests

A hand-written library across five categories - Outdoor, Social, Food, Creative, Chaos - for when you just want to roll something and go. Works fully offline.

03

Your Lore Book

Every completed quest becomes a Lore Card with optional photos, a note, and a 1-5 star rating. A gallery of what you actually did, not what you posted.

04

XP, levels, and streaks

Completing quests earns XP and moves you from Novice up to Legend, with a daily streak counter to keep momentum going.

05

Honor-system completion

No check-ins, no GPS proof, no pressure. You tap Mark Complete when you have genuinely done it.

06

Run many at once

Accept as many quests as you like and keep them active in parallel. No artificial limit on how many adventures you have going.

Real places, not prompts

Quests built from the actual streets around you.

Most "things to do" apps hand you generic suggestions. SideQuest queries Apple Maps for real venues near you and writes the quest around them, so "Eat a burger" becomes a specific spot down the road, with its hours, photos, and reviews one tap away.

Yours, on your phone

Your whole adventure history stays on your device, not our server.

There is no account and no cloud sync. Photos, notes, and ratings are stored locally, and uninstalling takes them with you. We never see your location, your photos, or your notes.

Questions

The things people ask.

No. SideQuest has no sign-up, login, or email. Open it and start questing.

Yes. The 350+ curated quest library and your entire Lore Book work with no connection. Only location-based quest generation and Open in Maps need the internet, because those talk to Apple Maps.

It is on the honor system. There is no GPS check-in or proof required - you tap Mark Complete when you have actually done the thing, and can optionally add photos, a note, and a star rating.

Everything core is free: random quests, the full library, accepting and completing quests, your Lore Book, XP, levels, and streaks. Pro adds location-based quest generation from real nearby venues and a daily quest reminder.

All your content stays on your device in a local database, with photos in private storage. There is no iCloud or company server. The app uses privacy-preserving analytics tied only to a random per-device ID - never your name, photos, notes, or GPS coordinates.

Venue names and addresses come from Apple Maps and can occasionally be wrong, closed, or moved. Quests are suggestions for real-world activities, so use your own judgment, especially for the more adventurous Chaos category.
